No frills airline cancels its Jersey services
There are fears for the future of low cost air links to Jersey after no frills airline easyJet announced it is ending services to Luton.
The decision comes less than a week after rival operator Thomsonfly decided to pull out of the island. Jersey's Chamber of Commerce says it's a big blow to the local economy.
These airlines say that low consumer demand and losses from high fuel costs, are forcing them to cut their Jersey services. Although easyJet's Liverpool route is safe thanks to high demand, their Luton one's being cancelled from January the 4th. And Thomsonfly are to axe their Coventry flights from November the 3rd.
There's still a chance easyJet's Luton service will resume after the quiet winter period. But that will depend on recovery from the recent financial turbulence. (from Channeltv)
