Warning of Card Scam in Guernsey

Be careful with your credit cards locally this happened to a person today:

"After shopping with Safeway forecourt at the Airport and Checkers at L'islet , I was called today by the Fraud department of my bank. They had received a report from the police that a member of staff from one of these companies (they would not say which one) had been caught cloning credit/debit card details from customers and passing them on to fraudsters who were using the details for illegal transactions.

They checked I could account for the transactions I had made and then as a precautionary measure cancelled my card in case it had been cloned.

Please be very careful and make sure that you check your bank account carefully if you have made recent purchases from the above to make sure only genuine transactions have been processed. Some Checkers stores and Safeway at the airport have a massive loop hole where by you are still signing a receipt with all of your CC details on them.

So watch you're cards for any strange transactions if you have shopped at these stores lately...

from the Fraud Department at work today(Police Station) ... THIS IS A HOAX and
is going round the Island. Please pass this
message on to everyone you’ve sent it to NOW

I confirmed with Fraud today that it was indeed a spoof email and they had received no such reports of card cloning locally.

Ahh haa so the old Guernsey grape vine is doin its good stuff again eh

So we had a SCAM then in fact it turns out that the SCAM was a SCAM but are we 100% sure that the SCAM that its a SCAM is not a SCAM :roll:

My wife had her credit card stolen about six months ago,...............i've not reported it yet, cos whoever nicked it is spending a lot less than she was !! :)
