After 20 years of campaigning, skaters and BMXers have permission for a permanent skate park in Guernsey.

Environment has said yes to plans for concrete ramps at Beau Sejour.

The Extreme Sports Association will now have to raise two hundred thousand pounds to build it.

Deputy Mike O'Hara has been involved with the Association for the past 7 years and says there's lots of reasons why this is good news.

I think they should be made to pay for the repair of damage they have already caused to the Liberation Monument before they get any kind of permission or funding.

Then maybe the 'responsible' ones should make amends for the 'irresponsible' ones who are giving them a bad name by financing the repairs.
