Guernsey security firm continues Bouet Estate patrol
A private security firm will continue to patrol a rundown housing estate in Guernsey until at least May, the Housing Department has said. While most of the Grand Bouet estate, in St Peter Port, has been boarded up but 19 homes are currently occupied. A firm was hired in November to patrol the estate when residents were moved out so demolition could start. The department said it was feared that crime would rise as the properties were left empty and boarded up. Jim Roberts, from the Housing Department, said the public feedback to the security guards had been positive. He said patrols were expected to end at the start of this year, but with some residents likely to stay on the estate until May the guards would continue working until then. He would not reveal how much the security contract had cost but said: "We took a judgement call... the costs were outweighed by the benefits." (from BBC) Waste of time ... have you seen the damage by the vandals over the last few weeks... |
Re: Guernsey security firm continues Bouet Estate patrol
It is a large Estate there is no way security can watch all the houses
at once.. The vandals that go around there know the layout..
If the police couldn't catch them what chance have these got..

I agree with Nan .they only have to log into facebook and look at certain profiles to see who is up to it all .the Bouet has become the place to meet for youngsters now ..
A few years ago the installed ctv cameras .and have never caught anyone that we know of.
what a complete waste of housing departments budget .
