safeway closure
The store is looking more and more empty - I have been going in at random times lately and have been picking up some fab bargains - it states clearly in the store that it is 70 percent of and everything must go so I am predicting on its last day of trade there will be a mass exodus in the place - I will of course be one of them if so!

Re: safeway closure
Have not been there for years i thought it was closed and folks only went there to do their recycling .
Hope it they are going to do something worth while going here for and hope they do something for the children and perhaps a cafe area .

Re: safeway closure
From what I've seen of Waitrose so far is that the food is overpriced (which all food over here is) do we really need another M&S lookalike? There is nothing in between really - and Iceland is right at the bottom end of the'real' food scale!!!! But I suspect it is being geared to cope with the influx of millionaires our states are trying to attract!!! Although Sandpiper are handing over the keys today - I bet they have a master key in their back pockets :-)x

Re: safeway closure
The problem? is that we are a very rich Island so most can afford high priced goods. The other problem is that the wealth is not evenly distributed so the poorly paid and basic pensioners are staring at a genuine poverty gap.I don't have the answer to that.
