A man is in a critical but stable condition in a Guernsey hospital following an incident in St Peter Port on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they were called to a private residence in Pedvin Street just before 17:00 BST following a report of a man with life-threatening injuries.

The 44-year-old local man has not yet been named officially.

Police said they were not looking to make any arrests, after they released two people who helped with inquiries.

The man has undergone surgery in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Pedvin Street was cordoned off following the incident and remained closed to the public until 21:00 BST.
