Where are these 800 empty spaces? asks St Andrew’s head
ST ANDREW’S Primary School has been turning away students because some of its classes are at full capacity and that should be enough to justify it staying open, its head teacher has said.
The comment comes following the Mulkerrin report into primary school education, which said there were 800 empty school places based on pupil/teacher ratios.
It has again ignited the debate about whether some of the island’s schools should close.
St Andrew’s head Linda Paley has come out fighting, stating that her school – which only narrowly escaped closure four years ago – should stay open
