Jersey & Guernsey United we stand
A new spirit of co-operation between Jersey and Guernsey appears to be emerging in the wake of the parliamentary elections in Guernsey.
Earlier this week the respective Chief Ministers met for talks after which they pledged to work more closely together.
They agreed that there is much common ground between the islands where they should be working together to make the Channel Islands stronger externally and make financial savings for the two communities. Stronger cooperation, they said, will produce political, economic, social and cultural benefits.
Now that concorde has been underlined by a follow-up meeting between the men who have their hands on the money - the finance ministers.
And there is already a commitment for the ministers to join force to make the islands more efficient and effective.
Joint Channel Islands action is now being promised from the top with Chief Ministers planning to meet more frequently to quickly progress initiatives.
