Jason’s polar dash is on Discovery this week
A GUERNSEY adventurer’s record-breaking journey to the South Pole will be the subject of a new Discovery Channel series, which starts at 9pm on Thursday.
The World’s Toughest Drive chronicles the journey of Jason De Carteret – along with engineer Kieron Bradley and Canadian Jason Thomas, who won his place in the specially-adapted Toyota pickup – as they broke his record time to drive to the South Pole.
The expedition took place in December last year.
The vehicle, which was specially registered in Guernsey, got the men to the pole in one day, 15 hours and 54 minutes – beating Mr De Carteret’s own 2005 record of two days, 21 hours and 21 minutes.
