Jersey FA consider midweek Muratti as Guernsey fixtures pile up
The head of Jersey's Football Association has refused to rule out the possibility of a midweek Muratti because of Guernsey's fixtures pile-up.
The annual match between the islands is traditionally played on the Sunday of the first Bank Holiday weekend in May.
But Guernsey FC have had 20 games postponed this season because of bad weather and their FA Vase run.
"We'll have to keep all options open here," JFA president Phil Austin told BBC Radio Jersey.
"Where we are is we've said to Guernsey to have a think about it and come forward with a proposal to the inter-insular committee and we'll have a look at it.
"You've got to be realistic and say we've got to find a solution to it."
Guernsey already have 10 games scheduled in April with more matches still to be re-arranged.
However, Austin is firmly against a Muratti match involving a second-string Guernsey side because their best players are playing in the Combined Counties League or the FA Vase final, which is on 4 May.
"We don't want to play Guernsey second team, that does devalue it," Austin added.
"Some common sense that is going to have to prevail here, we'll talk to Guernsey and try and come to some arrangement."
