Cyclists of all abilities and ages are being encouraged to sign up for a challenge to get fit and raise essential funds for Jersey Hospice Care at the same time.

The annual Tour de Jersey will be held on Sunday 13th July 2008 and involves three cycling routes around the island, all of which start and finish at Communicare, Les Quennevais.

The three routes are:

5-mile parent and child route – starting at 11am, the cycle is along the Corbiere railway walk and Les Quennevais cycle track. This is designed for young cyclists. It is easy and flat, and away from any traffic. Parents can either walk or cycle alongside.

20-mile family route – starting at 10am, the cycle takes you through Jersey's network of scenic country lanes in the western parishes. Although there are a couple of hills, this is not a strenuous route.

50-mile challenge route – starting at 9am, the cycle takes you around the island and is a real challenge.

The Tour de Jersey is now in its fourth year and has so far raised more than £38,000 for Jersey Hospice Care. It costs just £10 to register for the Tour de Jersey and participants will be provided with a water bottle and children with a goodie bag.

The event kindly sponsored by CTS Computing Ltd and is supported by the Jersey Round Table and Girl Guiding Jersey, who provide assistance along the three routes.
