States Business Plan
Politicians are being asked to agree a two percent pay rise for Public Sector workers.
The Treasury Minister's warning any higher and there will have to be serious cutbacks in spending on health and education.
The Council of Ministers has published its spending proposals for 2009
Overall spending will rise by just over three percent, but that's below inflation so amounts to a cut.
Despite that though more money's been found for health and social services and overseas aid.
A million pounds will go on improving the prison and there's some extra cash for mont a l'abbe school.
Senator Terry Le Sueur says there's nothing left for nursery education or more recycling.
He says if the states' workers get more than a 2 percent pay rise, islanders can expect to see cuts in services.(Channel103)
I can't see the public workers accepting a 2% rise...

2% rise for public workers he is off his head, there will industrial action for sure
