Garland gets shock Olympic call-up

Guernseyman Dale Garland has received a shock call-up to the British Olympic squad.

Garland will be competing in the four by four hundred metre men's relay team.

He hadn't expected to be included in the squad after he failed to make his qualifying time. But he got the phone call he'd been dreaming of from UK athletics and will now have to train hard for Beijing.

Dale Garland will be the only Channel Islander competing at the Olympics this summer. (from CIonline)
