Shock election result
Peter Allen with 520 votes topped the poll in the Alderney general election which saw two sitting States members ousted and a tie for 5th place settled by picking names out of a hat. Ten candidates were battling for five seats.
Runner-up was Boyd Kelly (409) followed by Geoffrey Sargent (376), Bill Walden (312) and John Beaman (294). Don Oakden (294) drew the losing lot.
Barry Pengilley (220) and Lin Maurice (201) were the losing States members. In 9th and 10th places were Lois FitzGerald (199) and Martin Hunt (98). The turnout was 65.6% and the newly-elected members will serve a term of four years. (from CIonline)
