AVG 8 free version

morning all.is anybody else having probs updating AVG today.keeps coming up with message bin file is missing in update manager.have uninstalled and reinstalled still same problem.

have been on the avg forum it is a corrupted file and avg are trying to sort it out

I find it strange that AVG was working fine for me just before I installed the new security updates for Windows XP.

Cant help wondering if that has something to do with it.

Just found this which fixed mine.


1) go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat...
2) make a folder on your desktop call it AVG update fix
3) download AVI: 270.6.4 to your desktop
4) download IAVI: / 1616 to your desktop
5) move the dowloaded files to the directory you made called AVG update fix
6) launch AVG
7) select tools -> update from directory
8 select the directory called AVG update fix where you put the downloads

Heres the fix.

Follow these instructions.

1) Download this file http://www.grisoft.cz/softw/80/update/u7iavi1616oo.bin and remember where you saved it.
2) Open AVG from the icon bar, click the menu item 'Tools>Update from directory...'
3) When window opens, pont to the directory you saved the above file in.

4) Job done! will fix the .bin file not found error
