HEALTH Minister Ben Shenton is considering standing for Chief Minister.

The Senator, who is three years into his first term in the States, says that depending on election results, he might challenge for the top job. At the moment, Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur is the only declared candidate for the job of succeeding Chief Minister Frank Walker. Senator Shenton said: ‘I am leaving my options completely open.

‘I will wait until after we have had the Senators’, Constables’ and Deputies’ elections and then make a decision about what I am going to go for.’

His announcement follows St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft’s brief dalliance with a run for Chief Minister. He said that he was considering a challenge a few months ago, before ruling himself out of the race (from thisisjersey)
