Arsonist puts three in hospital

Three people were taken to hospital in Guernsey early this morning after a series of fires were started in St Peter Port.

The most serious involved a flat above a restaurant in Lower Vauvert. A man and a woman living there were choking on smoke from the fire which had been started in the groundfloor entrance hall.

The Ambulance and Rescue Service said the man (47) and woman (41) were suffering from severe smoke inhalation. A 50-year-old neighbour who went to help also needed treatment, but was less affected by the smoke.

The fire broke out at about 2am. At the same time a car was set alight in Union Street; rubbish was found burning in Allez Street; a moped was damaged by fire in Colbourne Road and nearby building site hoarding was set ablaze.

Police are appealing for witnesses. (from CIonline)

things are going from bad to worse in the island.i hope they are severely punished if caught.people could have been killed.

Its one thing setting sheds / bins alight but peoples houses is utter madness .When and if they catch them they should bang them up for years , you could say its attempted murder.

When i did my fire training we had to go into a smoke filled room in the dark that scared the hell out of me , and that was with Breathing Apparatus (BA) god knows how this couple felt.

If you know or have heard who done this tell the police right away.
