Indonesia puts out tsunami alert .

Indonesia has issued a tsunami, or
tidal wave, alert after a powerful earthquake shook Sulawesi island,
the country's meteorological agency says.
The 7.7 quake struck near the coastal town of Gorontalo at a
depth of 10km (6.2 miles), and was followed by a magnitude 6
aftershock.
An Indian Ocean tsunami on 26 December 2004 killed nearly a quarter of a million people, many in Indonesia.
The disaster led to pressure for better tidal warning systems in the region.
