Free Home Safety Check Ups

The fire service is reminding islanders they can get their homes
checked out for free.

Firefighters are urging them to take advantage of the free inspections, which
will help you ensure you've got the best measures in place.

Guernsey's fire crews offer a free home safety check service for anyone
wondering how they can improve their fire prevention measures.

They also provide free smoke alarms for anyone over 60, or for people they
consider to be especially at risk.

The service says they want to expand that scheme to cover all islanders but
more funding is needed.

Fire crews do however have a number of money-raising initiatives in the
pipeline to bring in that cash.

Over the next year they're hoping to hold a fund-raising open day and their
firefighters calender will be published to help support an island wide free
smoke alarm scheme.
