New smart meters from Guernsey electricity.

In the press today an article saying that Guernsey Electricity are going to install these so called smart meters in all properties on the island . Ok it sounds good but a word of warning , if you have any touch lamps in the house you could have problems.

We had two touch lamps in the bedroom on the bed-side units , they were great because you can control the light level depending how many times you cared to touch them which was handy early morning not to disturb your partner , but as soon as they installed the new meter they kept coming on sporadically day and night . When we tackled them about it they offered us a special extension lead that was supposed to eliminate the problem but in our case it did not work so we had to replace our old lamps with switched lamps .

Not to much of a problem but they could warn you that this could happen . So if any of you out there are having problems with the touch lamps or any other electrical items this could be the reason.

Having sold hundreds of touch lamps over the years and use them myself we had no probem with ours when we used the leads, they have been tinkering with the way they sort out the leads so if you had given them one of your lamps the might have sorted out how make it work.
