A major rescue operation was sparked when 2 children became trapped on a rock
of Guernsey's coast.

The boy and girl, both thought to be 14, were stuck just off Grand Rocques
for roughly 3 hours.

The 2 children became trapped on the rock when the tide came in yesterday
afternoon.

Ambulance crews were called around 4.20pm

Despite several attempts, the rough sea conditions meant they couldn't get
the inshore lifeboat to the youngsters.

The French coastguard had to send a helicopter over and the 2 youngsters were
brought to Guernsey airport around have 7.30pm.

The pair were then taken to hospital as a precaution, as they'd both been in
cold, wet conditions for a number of hours.( from Island FM)

They are two very lucky youngsters

Yes very lucky indeed ,i am glad they are safe! . But it does beg the question as to why 14 year olds were doing on the rocks anyway ,i know kids don't see any danger but it was very windy and the spray was very high .

We are very fortunate to have a brilliant rescue service over here ,and the back up of the French helicopter! thanks to the rescue guys in what was horrible weather.
