Firms join forces in sewage call Empty Firms join forces in sewage call

A coalition of seven Guernsey businesses has demanded full sewage treatment for the island.

The businesses, which depend on coastal waters, said the failure of the States to invest in full sewage treatment was having an adverse effect on them.

The group includes Island Rib Voyages, Guernsey Surf School, Sail or Surf, Rip 101, Freedom Surf shop, Guernsey Sea Farms and Guernsey Surf Club.

Macerated sewage from the island is currently pumped into the sea.

In 2008 a leak in an underground pipe from the Belle Greve sewage pumping station resulted in gardens being flooded and foul water discharged onto the shore.

Will it make a difference somehow I doubt it...

What has a leaking underground pipe got to do with a treatment plant?
