Sewage Rip off
In my opinion households with a cesspit are being ripped of by the states of Guernsey. Our taxes are being used to connect other householders to the main drain.
Once they are connected to the sewerage system they no longer have to pay the emptying charge. Once the new foul water charge is brought in we will still have to pay to have our pits emptied (all be it at a reduced rate).
Why are households with pits penalised. We contribute towards the main drain works, we will be charged the new foul water charge, and we will still have to pay the States to empty our pits. (Which we have to pay to install and maintain ourselves).
There should be one sewerage charge for everyone across the board irrespective of how your sewerage is disposed of the cost of running the lorries should be factored into the new charge.
