Victims of abuse told to get help
Victims of domestic abuse in Guernsey are being encouraged by police to turn to them for help.
A specialist unit is being expanded due to increased demand and a new senior officer has been assigned to join it.
Insp Geoff Chapman is to start work with the unit full-time this month as it increases from two officers to four.
The Family Protection Unit, set up in 2002 to deal with child and domestic abuse, is also to be renamed the Public Protection Unit.
'Very busy'
Insp Chapman, who has been involved with the unit since it was established, said the service has developed greatly.
He said: "The unit has become very busy.
"We've gone from two officers to four and we're a victim of our own success, if you like.
"Obviously, we don't want domestic abuse to increase, but we do want victims of that and child abuse to be able to report matters to the police.
"We want them to be confident that the officers that are dealing with it are professional and specialised in that field, and certainly all the officers in the unit have relevant training and experience." (from BBC News)
It seems that its becoming more common thing and is sad to hear about...

Better out in the open that swept under the carpet, helplines front and back of phonebook would also be a good start
Guernsey has failed the abused children big time in the past and i doubt 4 people is adequate
Anyone know if this organisation has provided information for a conviction yet?
