Christmas Lights campaign begins
The Christmas lights campaign has begun today,
On the BBC it was said that the Parishioners of St Peter Port, should pay for them in their rates?
Is this right?
Or should it be an Island Issue?

Rather Jack Honeybill said that's how it should be.......he should sail off into the 'unreal' sunset with Carla MCNB - if they are necessary then IMO it is Islandwide - as everybody gets to see them - next he'll be saying that the parishoners of St Sampsons should pay for the honour of having an incinerator dumpmed in our midst!!!!! solely on the premise that it is indeed in St Sampsons!!!! :x :x :x

what happened to the ones we brought last year?i buy lights and they last me years
why do they need new ones every year ,i can understand they need money to put them up and take them down and to renew light bulbs .but why cost so much money

I am of the view that it should be
Seems only fair after all.
As Karma quite rightly points out
Come on Deputies...... get real, earn your money and start making 'common sense' decisions.... if you are able that is!!!! :x
What a bloony load of old nonsense.....

Clearly not!the parishioners of St Sampson's should pay for the honour of having an incinerator dumped in our midst!!!!!

every year the begging bowl comes out for the christmas lights.why do they cost so much and with joe public having to cut his cloth accordingly then maybe the christmas lights should reflect that and make do with what we have already.

I think if everyone puts a couple of quid in each it would'nt take long to collect enough to put decent lights instead of the candles they put right the way through town lets have something nice for the town for once

Re: Christmas Lights campaign begins
we have been putting quids into this campaign for a few years now and every year we get the same old story we need better /more lights.maybe the business community could do something for the island and fund these lights after all they are the ones who make the money and it would be a lovely thank you to their customers.
