I have not had mine yet - are they being distributed now or are they being given out as your insurance is renewed?

I haven't got mine yet, though I'm not insured with Rossborough anymore cause there renewal quotes were just totally ridiculous. So I switch to a UK company, but haven't heard back from them when they will be suppling me with a insurance disk. I've gotton used to have a clear windscreen.

Insurance Discs Empty Re: Insurance Discs

Post by Digger Wed 01 Apr 2009, 7:00 pm

Drivers in Guernsey must now have their proof of insurance on display.

Windscreen insurance discs should have been sent to all policy holders by their brokers over the past year.

From today there's a legal requirement to have them on show in the vehicle.

Although the police say they'll be taking a common sense approach for
the first few weeks, the advice is to make sure the discs are where
they should be.

So don't forget !!

problem is the discs only prove that the car is insured not that the driver is insured to drive it.

Its a shame that all cars are not insured for any driver, when I go to the US I have several friend who throw me their keys and I drive, when I said are you sure I'm insured they say anyone can drive their cars.

my car used to be then i was advised by my insurance company that it would be a lot cheaper if it was only named drivers .we have a joint 2car/house contents policy which is just over £500 a year at the moment .if it increases too much on renewal i will relook at it.

I understand that the disc is not the actual "Insurance Certificate" but must still be displayed in the vehicles windscreen. If you have to produce your documents, ie to the police, then you still need to show the actual Certificate.

I have family in Austria and they have to get new registration plates each year as it is stamped with the annual insurance. The car is insured and not the driver but it is about 4 times what I pay for a similiar car in Guernsey and I have my missus and the nippers named on my policy as well!
