Jersey Water company could cut 20 jobs

Changes to the way Jersey Water runs its services would place 20 jobs at risk, according to the company.
The water firm is proposing changes to its mains laying and service connection work in the island.
Staff and union representatives are being consulted about the plans, which the company said would result in "improved operational efficiency".
Potentially affected staff have been reassured they would be given compensation and help to find new jobs.
In a statement the utility company said: "Jersey Water, whilst financially secure, like all commercial organisations faces persistent cost pressures.
"We have a duty to continually review operations and find ways to operate more efficiently to keep prices for customers at a reasonable level, whilst maintaining acceptable returns for shareholders." (from BBC)
