Sark cliff collapse investigated
An investigation is under way in Sark after a section of cliff face collapsed blocking access to a popular beach. The landslide occurred on Sunday at La Coupee, next to the causeway between Sark and Little Sark, blocking the path that leads to Grand Greve bay below. Visitor officer Jan Guy said the weather may be to blame and an assessment was being carried out. She said: "Obviously before anything can happen it's got to be decided that it is safe for people to work on." Ms Guy said: "It [the rock] has fallen and covered a large section of the path. The very good news is that there was no one on the beach and no one was injured. "The access to Grand Greve is closed for safety reasons at the moment from both up and down. "It is not safe to use that path and that has been made quite clear by the constables in notices around the island." (from BBC) |
