Charity contenders... ready!
Two teams of Jersey men and women are ready to go head-to-head in the ultimate weight loss challenge for charity.
Each of the competitors have embarked on an eight week challenge, which includes a strict diet, an intense workout regime and no alcohol. It's all to raise funds for Jersey Women's Refuge.
The boy’s team is lead by Chris Tanguy of Tanguys bar. He’ll have a handful keeping his team in tow which includes Channel 103’s Peter Mac, Jersey Evening Post’s Harry McRandle and Gallery Magazine’s Ben Davies. Prison Officer Alan Kearney is the fifth member of their team.
The girl’s team is lead by Jersey rower, Alison Gallichan. Alison has ten years of rowing club training behind her. Completing her team of five are; Emma Mathew, Communication Manager at Jersey Finance, Tracey Durell of Jackson’s Magazine, Sharon Cronin, Customer Services Officer at Lloyds TSB and current lady of leisure Sandra Bisson.
The aim of the game's to lose as much combined weight and inches as a team whilst being sponsored to reach your personal target weight.
Radisson Gym Instructor and event organiser Ben Boakye is getting the gang into shape. He said: "After I saw that Jersey Women’s Refuge were so down in donations, I wanted to do something. It’s a new year, people are trying to stick to their new resolutions, people are joining a gym or starting to work out more. I thought I’d just give them a hand, and if they raise money for Jersey Women’s Refuge then it all goes to a great cause too!"
The final weigh in will take place on the 26th March.
