Guernsey Deputy wants fresh start on waste _47299624_mary_lowe1 Deputy Lowe wants the Public Services Department to start again on waste

A Guernsey politician has called on the States to throw out the planned energy-from-waste plant and go back to the drawing board.
Deputy Mary Lowe's amendment is due to be placed before this month's States meeting.
It calls for a number of actions, which includes taking back the decision made by the States in July to build a £93m incinerator using Suez Environment.
The decision has faced public opposition since it was made.
Deputy Lowe's amendment, which will be considered at the meeting on 24 February, wants all previous resolutions that approved incineration as the way forward to be rescinded.
She also wants the Public Services Department to write to Suez Environment and explain it is no longer the preferred bidder for a waste solution and for the department to come back with a new report and a revised waste strategy.
The amendment has been placed on a requete that calls for the States to have a vote on the final contract before it is signed with Suez. (fom BBC)

Guernsey Deputy wants fresh start on waste Empty Waste, waste, waste and yet more waste!

Any truth in the "leaked" figure of £7,746,590 which has been wasted since the BOA first looked at the subject (consultants, cancellations etc) in not deciding what system of waste disposal we need in Guernsey? If not, what is the amount wasted by our dictators?

That would be the figure if they pull out of the agreement with Suez and have to pay the maximum cancelation fee, subject to Suez proving the expenditure.

The figure incudes consultants fees and the cancelation fee for the Lurgi incinerator.

As the Lurgi plant was stopped by, as he claims, Scott Ogier, they can't really pin that on those opposing Suez.
