How to create hangover-free alcohol.
Injecting your favourite tipple with oxygen bubbles could banish the
dreaded morning-after hangover, a new study has revealed.
Scientists
have discovered increasing the concentrations of oxygen in alcohol
helps reduce the sore head side effects. Results of the study at
South Korea's Chungnam National University will
be published in May's edition of a leading alcohol research journal.
The Hangover: Oxygen
dissolved in alcohol could spell the end for a sore head and memory
lapses the morning after a drinking session
Professor Hye Gwang Jeong, from the department of toxicology, said
the study was the first to extensively research oxygen effects on
alcohol.
He said: 'This study is the first to investigate the
influence of dissolved oxygen concentrations on the pharmacokinetics
(what a drug does to the body) of alcohol in healthy human subjects.'
Dissolving oxygen
rather than carbon dioxide into alcohol shortened the time it takes to
sober up
In the tests 49 volunteers, 30 men and 19 women, were subjected to
alcohol with different levels of dissolved oxygen.
The results
showed that the higher the amounts of oxygen dissolved the quicker the
body was able to recover and process the alcohol.
Professor
Kwang-il Kwon said the figures were encouraging for tackling the age old
problem of the hangover. He said: 'The oxygen-enriched alcohol
beverage reduces plasma alcohol concentrations faster than a normal
dissolved-oxygen alcohol beverage does.
'This could provide
both clinical and real-life significance.
'The
oxygen-enriched alcohol beverage would allow individuals to become sober
faster, and reduce the side effects of acetaldehyde without a
significant difference in alcohol's effects.
'Furthermore,
the reduced time to a lower blood-alcohol levels may reduce
alcohol-related accidents.'The results of the study will be
published in May 2010 edition of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental
Research.
Sounds like a plan to me , but just imagine ordering a pint of Cider with a splash of oxygen.........

If I bubble my oxy-acetylene through my whisky, will it make my bottom burps smell nice as well as keeping me free of hangovers?
