Getting tough on States members
Politicians in Jersey who bring the States into disrepute could soon have their
wages docked.
Privileges and Procedures - the committee responsible for
the smooth running of States' business and keeping members in check - have drawn
up new guidelines to the code of conduct.
About time...

Re: Getting tough on States members
There is a dangerous possibility that States members both Guernsey and Jersey will be harased and disiciplined ( just like at school ) for putting reports on line that they feel are in the public interest, like maybe not agreeing with Ministers and even not towing the party line.
Its called free speech. If a States member is lazy, contributing nothing or even too much (against the wishes of the ministers ) then its for the public to decide at the ballot box not a peer group overseeing and trying to exert their own given power.
A step backwards in Jersey fast getting the title of the golden bannana republic.
Boatyboy.

Re: Getting tough on States members
Regarding States members being bullied, how about having your home raided by ten policemen, without a search warrant. For a full real life description see the article by Carolyn ( a mother and Jersey States elected member ) and make your own mind up.
