states last meeting tomorrow
Tomorrow is the last states sitting before the general election. One of the things being discussed is banning smoking in cars.It will be interesting to see the outcome as i would imagine the electioneering will start in the house over the next couple of days

Re: states last meeting tomorrow
Hmmm.... can't quite see the connection between smokiing in cars and electioneering...
Not only that, if I wanted to electioneer (and I don't need to) a minor issue in a list of potential investigations in a minor report in this month's Billet is not where I'd start. Far easier to electioneer about The Magistrate's Court, The Government Business Plan and Waste Management...

jon,i did say one of the things to be discussed. the outcome of that one little matter could have an effect on the way the smokers of the island vote.smokers of this island are fed up of the huge tax increases and the continual interference of the states and the director of health in what they enjoy doing. oh and by the way i am a reformed smoker .having given up two years ago.maybe as a government body you should be trying to sort out sewage plants ,waste disposal, overspends, getting children to school safely and keeping them safe from the prying eys of sex offenders in the prison,,the amount of people being allowed to come to the island to live and work when there are about 200 unemployed already signing on.care for the elderly and disabled ,the cost of affordable housing for locals,a sex offenders register, sea defences.still i suppose some of these subjects will be on manifestos in the next few weeks more empty promises.

I was one of the many who was against banning smoking in pubs but i have to admit that it is better in the pubs now on the rare occasions i go out. But to ban smoking in your own "Private" space (car) is a step to far and who has the right to tell me what i can do on/in my own property.
Have some of our deputies had a secret trip to Brussels the capital of silly suggestions?.Leave us alone Thistle is correct there are much more important things to discuss.

Re: states last meeting tomorrow
so the health police have won the day 22 for banning smoking while driving and 20 against.what will it be next you cant go to church in case you get brainwashed.you can't have sex when you like.i am sick to death of a government that has to interfere with the lives and pleasures of its citizens.remember to buy your press tomorrow to find out the names of the numpties who voted this through.by the way deputy matthews thinks we should ban all duty free as well. it is now going to the home department for them to deal with
