Jersey politician, Deputy Geoff Southern says Facebook is the answer to engaging young people in local politics.

The States Scrutiny page has already attracted hundreds of islanders in just a few months.

He says it could be used to encourage more young people to take part in the forthcoming by-election:

"We needed to get to a different section of society, a section that doesn't respond, basically young people. If you look at who's going to vote in a months time, if you look at the queues going through, you'll see it's mostly the elderly who do vote and who do get involved." (from CTV)

So what do you think, is facebook the way to get youngsters interested in politics?

May need more than just a new way to advertise the Elections.....

They need to give them a reason to vote.
