Central European Time Empty Central European Time

Post by GD Mon 21 Apr 2008, 7:21 pm

Jersey could see its first referendum to decide on whether we should move to Central European Time.

Senator Jimmy Perchard has asked the states to consider holding one in October - on the same day as the Senatorial elections.

Changing to CET would see our clocks go forward by one hour - giving us lighter evenings.

Senator Perchard thinks islanders should be asked to vote.

Great Idea and and an Ideal time for a referendum

A lot more people going to work or school in the dark in winter, just to make more daylight than most people, apart from keen cricketers like Senator Perchard, can use on summer evenings.
I remember the British Standard Time fiasco of the 60's, when we kept Summer time all winter for a couple of years.
