Two charities receive Queen's award
Two Guernsey charities have received a prestigious award for their service to the community. The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is regarded as the equivalent of an MBE for organisations.
The Health Information Exchange has been honoured for its work helping islanders find the information they need about health services in the island.
Aside from the Exchange, the other winner is the Guernsey Alzheimer's Association whose work comes in two forms.
Mike Tanguy from the Alzheimer's Association said:
"It's giving maximum support and help to the patient but at the same time if you like giving that shoulder support to the carer which is absolutely important. It's hard for any of us to imagine caring for someone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all the year round, it's one tremendous job. So any little help our team can give is a bonus and that's what we've been doing since we set up." (from CTV)
Well done to all the Staff & Members...
