How should schools teach religion?
Religious education is inadequate in one in five secondary schools, according to a report.
How should religion be taught?
The study, by education watchdog Ofsted, found the quality of RE had declined since 2007. It suggested that many teachers are unsure of what they are trying to achieve in the subject.
The Church of England said the report was concerning but the National Secular Society said that RE should become optional.
Do you remember RE lessons at school?
How should schools teach religion?
Should RE be an optional subject?
Were you "Brainwashed" about religion at school, did you do you any good?

Re: How should schools teach religion?
I was so brainwashed that I have more bibles than you can shake a stick at (prizes) but at the end of the day I made my own mind up!!!! Mainly because my parents were 1 x agnostic and 1 x athiest and just let me go to which ever church I wanted and I did just that......usually picking the one that my friend of the week/month/year was attending-at the end of the day I discovered my attitude to religion was a clear case of the singer not the song!!!

Re: How should schools teach religion?
It is good to have this in schools so they can understand what make folks tick who go there .
And a different understanding of each religion.
Not to brain wash them but to help them if they so choose this way of life

Re: How should schools teach religion?
In my day(a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away) R.E. was only concerned with Christian beliefs.Other religions didn't exist until I left home and grew up!I don't see the need for R.E in schools.I think the 3 R's are far more important.
PS I'm a confirmed(no pun intended)atheist now so my RE at school was probably wasted!
