PR people do a runner
Five members of the Channel Islands public relations profession are to take a break from running PR campaigns to run the Standard Chartered Jersey marathon early next month.
The runners, all members of the Channel Islands group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, have put their island rivalry and competitive instincts to one side and formed a mixed relay team – appropriately named “CI Public Relay-tions”.
Enhancements to the pathways in the West of Jersey mean that 40 per cent of this year’s route is traffic-free, taking in a combination of quiet green lanes, traffic controlled roads and broad open footpaths.
The PR team will be raising funds for their chosen charities, the John Uphoff Memorial Trust and the Stroke Association (Jersey).
Guernsey runners are Katrina Bray, of One Strategic, and Brooke de Laune and Steve Falla of Orchard. They will run with Adam Riddell of Jersey’s Crystal PR and Steve Smith who works for Cable & Wireless and recently relocated from Jersey to London.
This year’s race will be the 5th annual Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon. In 2009 278 runners completed the full marathon and 237 teams finished the relay.
Team captain Riddell said: “This is a great opportunity to team build across the CI public relations sector, lift the profile of the group and raise money for worthwhile local causes.” (from IFC feed)
