Train record Xmas track for Coca-Cola ad

Rock group Train have recorded a festive track called 'Shake Up Christmas' for Coca-Cola's upcoming holiday advertising campaign.

Speaking to Reuters, lead singer Pat Monahan explained that he is more interested in spreading seasonal cheer than the potential commercial appeal of the song.

The frontman declared that he could not be concerned with possible chart success when writing the track because "you are not going to write inspiring music [that way]".

He said: "I think of what I did with 'Shake Up Christmas' as a 'How can I help [spread happiness]?'"

The song features a call to action for audiences to embrace the joy of the season with lyrics such as: "Shake it up, shake up the happiness / Wake it up, wake up the happiness / Come on y'all, it's Christmas time."

Monahan further remarked that he is pleased that Train's music has struck a chord with fans.

He concluded: "It's really an honour to know that, somehow, our music is affecting people in a positive way." (from DS)
