GST CONFUSION
There seems to be a mass of confusion in Jersey today over GST.
Channel 103 has received dozens of calls this morning from listeners claiming that the new tax has been added to their shopping bill this morning ahead of the levy's introduction next week.
A spokesman for CI Newsagents has just confirmed to us that GST IS already being added to prices, so that around 49,000 products are correctly priced in time for the changeover.
However, shopkeepers are then meant to manually deduct the tax from the final bill... but clearly that's not always happening.
The advice if GST has been added... tell the shopkeeper and refuse to pay. (from Channel 103)
lol good way to make extra profit...
