YOUNG islanders’ achievements were celebrated last night in the fourth Guernsey Youth Service Bailiwick Young People’s Awards.
Opening the event at the Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts, Youth Service committee chairman Deputy Tony Spruce said the occasion was about recognising young people who were prepared to ‘go the extra mile’ in the course of their work.
The Bobby Le Vasseur Award for dedicated service went to La Mare de Carteret student, George Collenette, 14.
George has since the age of nine been doing volunteer work for those with special needs at the Brock Road Youth Centre. (from GEP)
Its nice to see the youth of today get some praise, rather than being "run down" everyday..
