£800,000 survey for Health services ‘who are at a crossroads’
Julie Garbutt, the chief executive of Health
CONSULTANTS from the UK have launched a major review into the Island’s Health Service at a cost of nearly £800,000.
Health Minister Anne Pryke said that the review was needed because the Island’s health, community and social services were ‘rapidly approaching a major crossroads’.
It will be carried out by a healthcare advisory team from one of the world’s largest professional services and accounting firms, KPMG, which has carried out a similar review for the NHS.
Julie Garbutt, the chief executive of Health, said that the cost was justified because consultants would be working with her department for six to nine months and would be deploying a large number of people. She said that they had specialist skills and were world leaders in their field. (from JEP)
Sounds like a total waste of money to me...

why are they paying for more damned consultants..this money would be better spent on building a respite centre for adults with learning disabilities .

If it requires outside consultants to review the Island's health service, then you need a new set of Managers. It is their job to review things on a continuous basis. Otherwise what are they doing for their money ?

Jersey hospital, have just published the fact that they have found £4.4 million. This amount has transpired through staff vacancies not being filled and several other reasons.
Hydrotherapy pool closed to save money, shortages of nurses, employing expensive new managers while keeping the "established team " and now KPG accountants at a cost of a mere £760 thousand.
Jersey hospital, have just published the fact that they have found £4.4 million. The real reason is incompetence, as noticed by Deputy Higgins who stated in the Jersey assembly, " they haven't a clue what they are doing ".
