A Christmas message from the Chief Minister
"As 2010 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the challenges we have faced this year. With the effects of the economic downturn still being felt, we have all had to cut back on our spending and find ways of increasing savings.
"This year has not been an easy one for many people. It would be wrong for us to continue spending at our previous levels when many of our Islanders are struggling, which is why the Comprehensive Spending Review continues to be so vitally important.
"I am very proud of what we are achieving as an organisation – all departments have shown commitment to the CSR and have made great progress to set objectives for their own savings targets. This demonstrates the hard work and dedication of our staff members, and I am honoured to work with such inspiring people.
"As we all watch our purse strings, there has been a lot of talk of this Christmas being a more frugal one. Although this may be the case, I hope it does not impact on our enjoyment of the festive period.
"Part of Christmas involves sharing gifts, but there are many other aspects of the celebration that can be enjoyed for free, like spending time with those we love, or attending morning service on Christmas day and joining in with the carol singing.
"Although most of us will spend the Christmas weekend with our family and friends, sharing in the goodwill and joy that the season brings, I know that many of our staff will be working over the Christmas period. I send my heartfelt thanks to them for keeping essential services running.
"Although 2010 has been a difficult year, I hope that however and wherever you are celebrating Christmas, it turns out to be everything that you hope for, and that you will join me in looking forward to what will hopefully be a positive 2011."
Re: A Christmas message from the Chief Minister
Below is just one blogger venting anger, regarding decisions made by Chief Minister Le Suer and his motley crew, and is actually only one of 32. See for you self, regarding the views held about Jerseys Chief minister. If he would resign in January 2011 it would be a very positive start to the year.

Think zero ten Terry, think incinerator, then think about resigning. The buck stop with you and the wizard of Oz. You are both the reason..solely for the £100 m black hole. By the way business leaders are not economists so why would you talk to them or seek their advice. Listen to one of the word’s great economists, namely David Blanchflower and he would tell you you are about to withdraw millions from an already fragile economy (of your making), causing small firms to go to the wall, which have a knock effect. Do not cut the money supply before the impact of your decions have lifted and that will not happen until you and the good senator Ozouf go.
