‘People should pay for kerbside recycling through parish rates’

KERBSIDE recycling should be paid
for through the parish rates system, one deputy has suggested.
Jan Kuttelwascher said that would enable the Public Services Department to
free itself from the funding predicament it was currently in.
At the moment, the department receives money from waste going into the Mont
Cuet tip but the more that is recycled, the less it receives in gate fees.
Deputy Kuttelwascher (pictured) said that arrangement was counter-productive,
particularly as the department needed to encourage people to recycle and spend
