Princess Royal to visit Jersey in May
The Princess Royal will open the visitor centre at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust when she visits Jersey on 3 and 4 May.
She will also open new buildings at Mont a L'Abbe school and the Scott Gibaut Homes in St Helier.
The princess will also meet people at Jersey Women's Refuge and attend dinner at Government House.
Deputy Bailiff William Bailhache announced the Royal visit in the States earlier.
Mont a L'Abbe school provides education for children with severe or profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
And the Scott Gibaut Homes Trust is a charity that provides accommodation for people with cerebral palsy and brain injuries.(from BBC)

Re: Princess Royal to visit Jersey in May
I seem to remember a certain ancestor of hers was King of Scotland, then came down and became King of England as well. So it's all Scotland's fault.
Seriously though, would you prefer a Gaddaffi or a Mugabe type leader bleeding off the national economy into their own bank accounts in Swtzerland or the Channel Islands.
The real value of the Royal Family is in keeping corrupt political rogues from occupying the summit of our Society and abusing their power.
Would anyone be able to stomach the horrendous Cherie Blair calling herself 'First Lady' like what the US President's wife is called ? Errrrrrrggggggggggg !!!!

Not as much as a US style 'President' would. Don't forget that the Royal Family pay taxes, just like the rest of us.
