Guernsey to switch off
Islanders are being asked to switch off their lights for an hour on Saturday to show support for combating climate change.
Earth hour is at 8.30pm. People, businesses and governments around the world will switch off their lights for an hour.
In Guernsey, the Culture and Leisure Department have opted to plunge Castle Cornet and Fort Grey into darkness to show the island's support.
Local environmental group G-Can is encouraging schools and churches to get involved.
Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia. A year later it had become a global sustainability movement.

Re: Guernsey to switch off
How about all the banks in the world putting their lights out - now that really would make a difference!

Wouldn't it be better if they turned off their computers overnight, every night, instead of a token gesture?
