Island Coachways Notice...
Due to a lack of serviceable vehicles, I regret to announce that a number of services will be dropped tomorrow (Wednesday 3 May 2011). The detail is posted on our website at www.icw.gg/buses. Please could you pass on this message to any regular Guernsey bus users. Many thanks.
Re: Island Coachways Notice...
I'm a bit confused to say the least! we fly out to Melbourne on Thursday 5th May!!! but the scaled down bus service is on Wednesday 3rd May......please don't do this to me - it is waaaaaaay tooooooooo early for my brain to assimilate

Re: Island Coachways Notice...
Bad management yet again.
On Friday HB said that they had to wait for parts from UK. Today she says that they had no fitters to fit the parts but would hire one and all would be well.
I would like ICW to post how many workshop staff they have been through in the last couple of years. Well into double figures I wager.
How long until the management get blamed rather than the troops.
No doubt the States will throw another 1/2 mill her way and trust the problem will go away.

Re: Island Coachways Notice...
A revised bus schedule is to be introduced in Guernsey from Monday due to continuing mechanical problems which have disrupted services.
The Environment Department and Island Coachways said full details would follow, but that the only routes 1, 1A, 7 and 7A were likely to be affected.
They said normal service would resume during the school summer holidays.
Hannah Beacom, Island Coachways' managing director, thanked passengers for their continued patience.
'Difficult times'
She said: "I understand that reduced services at any time are frustrating and [we] are doing everything possible to minimise disruption for the travelling public."
The cancellations of services, which started on Wednesday, are expected to continue this week with details published daily at about 0730 BST on the Island Coachways website.
The Environment Department said: "Once the revised timetable has been adopted, the department would hope to be in a position not to cancel further routes as has been the case for the last week or so but the frequency on some routes will be reduced."
Environment Minister Peter Sirett said: "We are working closely with Island Coachways to ensure that the impact of maintenance work on passengers is minimised.
"We are also exploring what options exist to temporarily increase the size of the fleet to get us through these difficult times." (from BBC)
It seems like a build up to getting the States to foot millions of pounds for new buses and a new depot... why don't the Peter Sirret just accept the fact that our local bus service is too good.. and perhaps a smaller regular service would be more acceptable, than try to run an "overstretched" service that the Island cannot afford.....
Re: Island Coachways Notice...
Not being funny but any successful business which use vehicles have a rolling maintenance program, It begs the question why does ICW not have facility .

Re: Island Coachways Notice...
I suppose Digger that the firm is still being run by the same people who thought the current fleet of oversize buses was right for Guernsey.
