A quarter of cabs have CCTV
A QUARTER of the island’s taxis are fitted with CCTV equipment and the number is set to rise, industry experts have said.
Cab owners have taken advantage of a recent drop in the price of the video and sound surveillance equipment.
Operators said the kit offered better protection to both drivers and passengers.
‘We have been asking for years for the States to subsidise this but, in the end, we have had to go out and do it ourselves,’ said Lambourne Taxis owner Bruce Lambourne.
Island Taxis has fitted CCTV equipment in all 20 of its cabs.

What a good idea, both for the Cabbies and for their customers!
