Guernsey buses undergo 500 repairs
More than 500 repairs have been necessary to keep Guernsey's 41 buses on the road in the past three months.
Problems caused a number of delays and cancellations, resulting in a slimmed-down service between May and July.
Repairs have included three gearbox changes, one engine replacement and essential maintenance to steering, brakes and body work.
Island Coachways managing director Hannah Beacom said the age of the fleet was the primary reason for the issues.

Oh so it wouldn't have anything to do with the drivers then. Gearboxes, engine, bodywork etc.

Re: Guernsey buses undergo 500 repairs
They keep banging on about the age of the buses (which I believe is 8 years, if memory serves from a recent article?). I think it's a ploy to get more brand new buses. The newest Stagecoach buses in this area are 6 years old, many of them are 13 years old (1998, S registration). I have never heard of a service not running due to breakdowns. Bear in mind that these buses are running from about 5am until nearly midnight every day, with a combination of urban and carriageway driving, on routes of 25 miles each way. Maybe Island Coachways just need more spare buses, rather than a new fleet?
