A new charity has been set up to give disabled children in Jersey a chance to fly in a light aircraft.

Helping Hands first started as a project run by Jersey Aero Club volunteers about five years ago, and is now being launched as a charity.

Nominated children with special needs will get to spend the day at the club in St Peter.

Those who are able will fly around the island with pilots who donate their time for free.

Jonathan Creedy, from the Jersey Aero Club, said: "We can accommodate about 30 youngsters for flights around the island with the fantastic co-operation of air traffic control."
